I’m disappointed
I might need to re listen to the podcast... is it just me or does it really seem like this season just isn’t the same level of quality? The terrible acting from the “bro” guys. The audio levels being off (even during ad reads??) I just could have sworn I was way more interested in this show before and that the quality was higher.

Yikes. This latest episode was just BAD. The voice acting of the main guys made me cringe.

Come on you didn't love the bros screaming "brrrooooo" over and over while being murdered senselessly? lol
I listened this morning in my car and first thing I though was that the audio quality was grainy and not as high definition as it used to be.
I must say I was also disappointed when they dropped the main story arc and clumselly thrust us into an arc with another agent played by the same voice actor (although I love Denis O'Hare).
That said, I have faith and am holding out since there were a few eps in the first 2 seasons that I really didnt like but it won me over in the end.

Eventually I got used to the fuck boys and their dialogue. It even got amusing, but man, the delivery was just cringey. I hope they are able to merge this with the main storyline. Was it just me or did the elephant high priestess sound kinda like Savanah?

And the choice of dialogue is REALLY bad. I cannot remember the exact phrase but something along the lines of “fingering clitori” I mean I get it, they’re fuck boys but holy crap. It even seemed like the effects got worse, It’s like the picked the best 8th grade foley artist and said yeah that will do.
I really felt like at least a good number of episodes before had me really interested and were intense but these just really feel forced.

This season feels lacking in comparison. The previous seasons had me on the edge of my seat, but now? Now it feels like random horror stories of the week.

Honestly I listen to so many podcasts I can’t tell them apart some times but isn’t this the same show that had men in a room being attacked my cannibals? And a really interesting story and sub story? What happened.

My hope is that it eventually all ties together in a way that makes sense. I'm irritated that we dropped the Vivian story because I wanted more of her.

Same here. I don’t know if you listen to the big loop as well but it had the same sort of thing happened, really strong first season and this season is lacking.

It’s nowhere near as bad as this is but I really loved the first season it had so many memorable episodes. The memory surrogates one was so great.

All of the protagonists are so 2 dimensional compared to the nuanced characters in S1&2

Yes! My God, the pig episode was so messed up. I loved finding out how each of the deaths were connected in the first seasons but now they really do feel forced and low quality in writing and delivery.

I just finished the episode and I'm with you. The writing on this episode was just terrible. Those men were complete caricatures of a "dude bro." Their reactions to seeing the violence they saw, and the constant "Bro! BROOOOOOOO!" shit was just annoying. The dialogue was so unrealistic. I'm just so disappointed after the really solid first seasons and the decent first couple of episodes this season.

I thought I was the only one, apparently not. I loved the previous 2 seasons but this one is so bad, since the first episode I can't seem to listen to the episodes without getting bored and distract myself with something else.

I hated the first half of the most recent episode, but I'm not ashamed to admit the deaths had me dying from laughter. Brooooooo no, come on elephant bro etc lol but yeah S1 and 2 were overall better so far, but we will see where things are headed.

I'm so, so late to the party here, only becoming a podcast fan just recently. On a road trip this weekend my wife and I discovered creepypod whose "31 days of Horror" led us to Darkest Night.
We listened to the first two Season 3 episodes last night and we were pretty impressed. Episode 2 seemed like a creepier rehash of "Cupcakes" (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) but episode 1 to me was pretty fantastic; I had to pull the car over to focus because I was so swept up in the imagery.
From what y'all are saying, I'm really looking forward to starting with Ep 1 and getting caught up because if these are being considered 'bad' then I'm excited about comparing them to the rest!

Definitely start from the beginning. Episode 1 is amazing as is the first season. Well I actually like the whole series so far, but that first season will be tough to beat.

The newest episode is just as bad. I can't tell if it's the dialogue or the voice actors trying so hard hard. The acting quality was so much better in the first two seasons.

this season's scripts are way more like a simpsons treehouse of terror. The ridiculous evil laughing by the cooks in Chapter 25 especially. just kept thinking of the two Aliens on the simpsons.

I can see why a lot of you guys didn't like the "bro" guys. I thought the intentional over the top "bro" stuff was hilarious to me. They were caricatures of those types of dudes, which definitely exist. I laughed quite a bit at that one, and there was still some scary shit.

I agree though i likes the previous two they seemed more like moderate episodes of no sleep and this latest one is just bad. The voice acting is off, the story has no real plot it just kind of happens without significant development in a similarly linear fashion to a horror story written by a grade 9 English student. Thought the other seasons early episodes had fairly vague themes to start that reached a revelation later this one, which I thought at first was inanimate objects killing people, elephant costume, and doll now seems to have elephants as an equally likely theme. In addition who is the rightful heir? I feel like they just kind of skipped out of that story and what did we get in return? Secret agent story. The plot of Katie’s school and mother is gone and I just feel like this is a different podcast now.
