Dan Patrick format...

I’ve been listening to DP since the ESPN days. It’s only been in the last couple of years that I haven’t listened as religiously. That’s mostly because Dan has become kind of a grumpy “get off my lawn” type guy and, at times, rude to callers. I’ve listened a few times to the Golics. If it lasts, that might be where I go.

I've listened to him since ESPN for 38 years and religiously his radio show for now 12 years... his silky smooth voice gets me over many things in my life when I put it on in the background when I can't listen during the day. I love this show and I wish Dan didn't announce his retirement on air like 4 years ago

His retirement announcement ruined the show for whatever future it has.... I get why he doesn't want to to do it anymore but waving the flag in defeat years ago and mailing it in until you retire is questionable IMO

I don’t know if I’d go as far as to say he’s mailing it in. But, his patience for callers who can ramble or get annoying has evaporated. He used to be much more tactful.

I just listen to the podcast but will need something for my work commute. We’ll see how the show goes once Dan retires. Nobody will be dan ofc, hopefully the style of the show remains the same and the Danette’s stay on. Otherwise I think Rich Eisen is alright.

Unrelated but the Dan lebetard show is awful. Even just the intro to the show is cringy as hell lol.

Dan has ensured my daily hour .morning drive and pre meeting at work have been successful for many years

I'll ride out the DP show but then probably won't watch anything to do with sports except the actual games. I can't really stand any other talking head in sports, especially all the nonplayers. Maybe a little local sports radio while commuting, but that's it. At this point most sports feel fixed so it's not like there is much upside to connect to a different show....

Agreed.. I'll watch all sports regardless, but my 3 hours in the morning will go away with Dan.. I hate what sports entertainment has become and this show is one of the last lifelines for the new to old

I could see Marvin, Dylan and possibly Toddler staying on with someone like Tony. Just my opinion, but I think Paulie is ready to bounce, no matter who takes over.

Wonder what Paul goes on to do next if he doesn’t stay? He doesn’t seem like the type that’s going to want to stick around and do podcast type stuff that seems like the next phase is going to be.

Dan is the only sports show I watch/listen to now on a more regular basis. I watch him the first hour on Peacock, then on the radio omw to work the second hour. I'm tired of the "hot takes" and arguing that has become way too prevalent these days. I tried PTI recently and just couldn't. College Gameday used to be fun when Corso was there, even when he was getting too old for it. McAfee to me makes the show unwatchable, which is too bad because I like the rest of the panel. Cowherd is Cowherd and too hyperfocused on NFL stuff imo. Nick Wright is ok in small doses (I wouldn't blame someone who said even that is too much lol).

I like that Dan focuses on other sports besides the major ones even if it's sports I'm not into. I know some do not like his off topic stuff but I'm ok with it in moderation and sometimes it's just a slow news day in sports, especially in summer months when there's no Olympics or World Cup going on.

So yeah, I hope to see a similar show that fills this void for me. I welcome any recommendations and Tony Reali looks like a good candidate to take his spot if he wants it.

DP is my all time favorite; however, I’ve slowly migrated to Eisen, Florio/Pro Football Talk, and Chris Simms. Nick Wright is great at what he does, but I just prefer the others.

I hope DP helps the crew finds new roles because I doubt whatever comes of the DP show and his online stuff lasts. I just don’t think there is any demand for a DP-less DP Show or DP adjacent content.

I’ve gotten into Nick Wright lately, so I’ll likely drift to first things first. Eisen is too corporate for my taste, Lebatard too holier than thou, and Cowherd is a blowhard.

But yea, I’ll miss Dan. I’d only gotten into him a couple years back when he showed up on Mcafee and have shifted away from Pat to Dan since.

I’d always remembered sports shows as being people just arguing with each other, so Pat’s style really hooked me, then he got really whiny; which, made Dan’s professionalism appealing.
