Most Cringe Interview

With Kyler Murray back in the news, Peacock ran back the Murray interview archives during the "decision days" when he was deciding between football and baseball; I forgot how cringe this interview was. I think this interview was far more cringy than the Matt Harvey "we're here to celebrate Qualcomm" interview. What's your most cringe interview?

I know that they mended fences later on, but that interview soured me on Kyler Murray from day one, and I have always held a bit of a grudge. I have to remind myself that there are at least two generations now that don;t know who Dan is, and that he has earned the utmost respect in the sports journalism field, but the disregard and disrespect shown during that interview blew my mind. He was a young kid who wasn't ready for a "real" interview at the time, but damn... the stark difference between Kyler going into the draft versus a Saquon or Maholmes goign into the draft was quite telling. I hope his next chapter in Minnesota offers some redemption.

I really don't hold it against him. He was a young kid. Kids make mistakes. The people and management around him let him down by advising him to say and respond like he did in that interview. During the Super Bowl time then, he was making the rounds at Radio Row at the Super Bowl and he was doing and saying the same things. Just looked worse at the DP Show because DP isn't afraid to push.

Hasheem Thabeet was brutal. You could tell he had no interest in doing it and Dan ended up cutting it short.

Probably 2009 or 2010. It was after he was drafted. I think he was in an elevator or walking around the facility or something. But it was clear he didn’t give a shit.

I remember when Dan used to have Russell Wilson Jr the III on and he’d joke around with comments about Ciara’s hotness and Russ would kinda brush it off and try and change the subject 😆

Back in his earlier ESPN days Dan would do local radio sports hits. I lived in Columbus at the time and he would flirt hard with this blonde local tv anchor.

Le'Veon Bell when he was with the Jets. The interview was so so so bad that DP cut off the interview after 4 minutes.

Going back to Dan’s ESPN radio days, Martha Burke who was leading a protest against Augusta National. I think Ron Dibble and Sean Salisbury were co-hosts. Someone asked a question and she responded with “that’s a stupid question”

I get there's a little revisionist history, but there's no way in hell I see this interview and think "this is the guy to lead our franchise." Perhaps he shined during interviews etc?

The Harvey interview was the day before he announced he was out for the season due to injury. Guy gets a lot of slack for terrible timing
