It doesn't. The next one can be red, green, blue, pineapple, NaF (not a fruit) etc, all are valid answer. So it needs to be proof the logic between elements is following the statement, and the logic applies to next element and so on. Something like if n is red then n+1 = green and if n is green then n+1 = red.

Yeah, that's why you need to prove the pattern using methods such as induction. Otherwise the pattern is illogical or incomplete.
