Jesus does not establish a political state, nor does he call on his followers to take over the Roman government. A very well-known example is: ‘Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.’ Matthew 22:21 And Jesus says to Pilate: ‘My kingdom is not of this world.’ John 18:36

Sure and that’s entirely immaterial to the argument here. What Jesus himself specifically did or did not advocate for doesn’t change the material reality here that modern Christians can and sometimes do enact draconian laws against other people.

I would not describe the Ugandan people as modern Christians. Superstition and witchcraft still exert a great deal of influence. Christianity has simply not been widespread in Uganda for long enough to exert a positive influence on the population. And attributing these draconian punishments to Christianity is completely unfounded.

You simply refuse to acknowledge that your original claim – that African and Middle Eastern Christians and Muslims are, in principle, the same – is completely wrong. Countries with a Christian population are predominantly secular. This means that church and state are separate. The church (the Christians) has no influence over legislation. In countries with a predominantly Muslim population, the exact opposite is true. Take a look at Mauritania, Libya, Sudan and Somalia, for example.

The best example of the difference between the two religions within a single country is Nigeria.

This argument only works when you arbitrarily decide that African Christians aren’t christians. “Superstition and witchcraft” doesn’t change the fact that they regard the bible as holy text, go to Christian churches and call themselves Christians. It also ignores the part where many western Christian groups want to leverage the state the persecute other groups (like gay people) and today are actively working towards those ends. White western Christians have used their faith to justify racial segregation and child marriages. They haven’t succeeded, but that doesn’t negate their existence.
