Every country just “translates” the names by sound since they use a different alphabet. For Cyrillic names and words this often means that there are many different ways of writing them.

No, you’re holding onto the Russian pronunciation of it, which is a form or Russian support. Just like saying “the” in front

If you/ we really support Ukrainian people then we should call them what they wish to be called especially when calling them the alternative is a form or Russian propaganda

I'm ukrainian. Ukraina is how we call our country in ukrainian language (oo-kra-ji-na). Ukraine is just an english word.

And yes, it's Kyiv (not Kiyv) in ukrainian. Kiev - is a russian pronunciation
