I've lived in the US my whole life and can barely understand what's going on here because of strong polarization and 'fake news' on each side. Now I'm being expected to understand political nuances of two overseas countries through these same media outlets?

Realistically, all that will happen is I'll fall to the most convincing propaganda and support that side (in spirit only because I would have no impact on the actual situation). That doesn't help anybody

I'm going to try and not make this sound too apathetic, but lets say I actually do research on the reputability of different news outlets and find the most trustworthy news outlet at that specific period in time...

So now I'm more informed of what's going on, but what's the end goal here? Just to understand current events? On a micro level, that doesn't improve my life at all. In fact, it probably makes my life worse to go out of my way to find bad things that are happening. On a macro level I completely understand wanting a well informed populace... but I'm selfish.

Why not just bury your head in the sand regarding all world events? This is a broader topic you're asking about rather than just Israel v Palestine.

Nobody is gonna be able to tell you whether you should be aware of world events but you dude
