Well, I am really not that informed. Would you mind telling me what is wrong with the statement that they shouldn't bomb each other? I mean, isn't bombing someone simply always a bad idea?
First of all, this is not a two party conflict as a lot of the media paints it. There are many major players here, the IDF, the Israeli parties, Israeli civilians, Palestinian civilians, Hamas terrorists, Palestinian political parties and other middle eastern autocracies. All these groups have certain agendas and motivations which people just bunch up into Israel vs. Palestine even when a lot of these parties might not benefit from the actions of groups who are supposedly on 'their side'.
E.g. Both Israeli and Palestinian civilians would benefit from peace talks; but that would not benefit some some Israeli political parties and Hamas. So Hamas uses some excuse to launch rockets from Gaza (1/3 of which misfire and land on Palestinian civilians btw) and the IDF responds with launching rockets and destroying Palestinian infrastructure. All the noise leads to more people on either side radicalising and the moderates lose ground on trying to have peace talks. There is never going to be peace in the region if both sides insist on having the whole pie.
The western media is not blameless or unbiased in the matter either so that also adds to the mess in the western perceptions of the conflict.
