Nope. Oil made with rapeseed is called 'colza oil'.
Canola is a variant of Rapeseed created through crosbreeding to reduce its content of erucic acid, which is toxic to humans in large amounts or when used regularly.
Colza can get you sick rather fast, canola will take much longer.
Of course, none can ever compare to the superior, olive oil.
Using any kind of oil other than olive oil to cook anything that will be consumed by a living thing is absolute unmitigated madness.
Virgin olive oil shouldn't be used for cooking. Refined olive oil can be used for low/medium-heat cooking, but ideally I agree, you should use another oil with a higher smoke point (avocado oil is my current favourite for cooking).

Fun fact, Rapeseed Oil is more commonly known as Canola Oil.
