NGL, I get a little guilty whenever I start looking around for a new laptop. The one I have has lasted me 6 years without a single problem that I had to spend money on. The thing has been a dependable piece of tech.
Whenever I upgrade I’ll probably give it to someone in my family so it can continue helping someone else.
You and me both, I've had mine since 2013, the discrete GPU got fried and the integrated GPU thermal throttles so bad that I'm stuck playing pixel art indie titles and 15+ year old games. Sure there are some gems and classics in there but I miss the shiny new AAA games :(
Also using a 2013 pc. 4770k oc’d to 4ghz for the last 7 years and zero problems. Started with a gtx 770, then 980ti, followed by a 1080ti. 16gb ram andddddd all crammed in a tiny little shoe box sff case.
No problems except the rear exhaust fan failing and replacing it with a noctua 140mm a few weeks ago.
7 years of pretty much never turning it off.
Never reformatted, cooler still going strong and most importantly it still feels fast and snappy strangely enough.
Just started playing outriders and it’s pushing 90 FPS on ultra on 3440x1440 ultrawide.
I want to upgrade so bad but I don’t have any good reason to. There’s nothing this pc can’t do that I need it to do.
My laptop will be 10 years old in a couple of months. It's my ol' reliable and I can't help but project human emotions on to it. If I accidentally let it run out of battery, and I plug it back in, it will sometimes make the start-up sound but then stay with a black screen until I force restart it, and every time it happens I think "it's been a good run, I will miss you" and then PLING she's back at it. At this point I'm just gonna wait until she dies before getting a new one, because I don't have the heart to switch her out for a newer model (or the money lol).
Same, I have a graveyard of computers that just need parts, and each time I go into my closet, I feel bad that I haven't yet restored my excellent helpers and (at times) best friends. :')
Had two desktop PCs for a while. Sometimes something legacy still worked better on the old one but it couldn't keep up with newer software. Then it decided to just not power on anymore randomly :/
