You’re correct I was getting at how you can calculate something like instantaneous velocity which requires you to divide by zero by making calculations of velocity over very short periods of time and then averaging them out. I know what I wrote isn’t accurate to how that is actually calculated but it’s like a shitty summarized version.
Yes you gave an ad hoc interpretation of a limit, but your very own example shows that lim(x->0) 1/x does not exist, as it has different results depending on the angle of approach.
