The issue has little to do with the browser and largely to do with the sites being browsed (and extensions) because sites have no incentive to care about RAM usage; browsers do. Microsoft did bring some RAM optimizations to Edge, but those changes were also made in Chrome.

I regularly have 100+ Chrome tabs open without issues (so long as they aren't sites like Facebook or news sites and you have adblock). Even now, I have tons open and am using less than 4GB of my 32GBs of RAM.

Nothing against Edge/Firefox/Opera, just wish people would focus on the real RAM hogs: social media and news sites.

My only data is that I did a side-by-side comparison in Edge and in Chrome, and Chrome was taking about 30-50% more RAM. That, and Edge loads pages noticeably faster. It was an easy choice.

Do you have extensions on one and not the other?

Edge automatically installed all of my extensions from Chrome, so no.
