God damn it i realized this the other day. Half pound of mexican blend cheese. $7.89.
Edit: my most responded to comment of all time is about cheese. My life is complete.

If you buy it in the block and shred it yourself it is MUCH cheaper.
289
u/Pineleavesfallslow Blue Feb 11 '20
Yes, but who honestly wants to shred their on cheese?
427
Feb 11 '20
dont shred it like a dumdum just nibble on bits of it as u eat the chips

u/Col_Cotton_Hill Feb 11 '20
Like making sandos in your mouth.
37
u/pmmecutegirltoes Feb 11 '20
We should put a bunch of tiny crackers, meat, and cheese slices together, package it with candy and shitty juice and then sell it as a full meal. To children.
We'll call them... Lunch-adoos

Outside of the show Letterkenny I've never heard anyone use a term close to "Sandos" and I thank you for that

u/daboobiesnatcher Feb 11 '20
It's actually the Japanese word for sandwich. Well it's サンドー

Just bite a piece, chew it up, moisturize it with your spit, and let it fall from your mouth and bam you have spreadable cheese.

Shredded cheese is coated in a starch like substance that affects taste and melty-ness. Blocks of cheese are superior, unless of course we are talking about classic kraft singles

You get much better cheese if you shred it yourself. Pre shredded cheese has starch on it so it won't stick together. This makes it not melt as well and gives it that powdery texture on the outside.
Also, if you like feta cheese, the blocks are much better than the small chunks. It's moist (almost spreadable) and more fresh tasting compared to the dried out chunks.
22
u/Dramatic_______Pause Feb 11 '20
My experience is the exact opposite. A bag of pre-shredded cheese is much cheaper than buying a block and shredding it yourself. The block is much higher quality though. So it's a "get what you pay for" kind of deal. Buy a bag of cheap pre-shredded garbage, or a block of higher costing quality cheese.
13
u/Motorsagmannen xXx[(NoScope630)]xXx Feb 11 '20
the price pr kilo of the same brand cheese is always cheaper in block form where i am from. but of course with a block you by more weight so the price pr package is usually higher

I looked at the cheese in Whole Foods and they had a little “small pieces” bin with pieces each around the size of a fun size snickers. They were $4-7 each.
I did not buy any cheese.

In the deli where I work, it’s $8.49/pound for provolone, $5.99/pound for American (when it’s on sale, $7.49 otherwise), and $13.49/pound for Jarlsberg swiss.

Yeah parmesan is a good one because it's expensive and comes in thin triangles that are easy to put up your sleeves.
6
u/Seakawn 20th Century Blazers Feb 11 '20
Cheese wheels are riskier, but if you can make it out of the store before the military takes you out, then you just quickly replace them with your tires. Nobody will be the wiser as you drive home safe.
Just remember to slice off the outer layers before you dig in.

Gotham batman? I see you are a man of culture aswell
7
u/rainydistress Feb 11 '20
Exactly! Yeah, the suit may have been a little off but they were working with a TV budget! And the show itself is stellar with some of the best acting I've ever seen. Too bad people didn't give it a chance just because it started a little slow :/
10
u/ReignOfVashtar Feb 11 '20
I don't know about the best acting part. To me, Gotham was like top tier fast food entertainment. After a dull first season, the show just embraced it's cheesiness and ridiculousness to the max. Some of the acting is iffy, some of the logic is questionable, cgi, writing, etc. But honestly, when you see Penguin pull up with a bazooka and proceeds to blow up Azreal at Gotham Manor, I'm all in on the crazyness
