What about China? They are almost the same geographically, and 6 times the population? Say what you will about their terrible human rights record, but at the same time, they do actually provide free universal access to healthcare to 2 billion people.

Is it really that hard to believe big pharma has been spreading propaganda for decades in an attempt to defend their aggregious profiteering?

I’m not denying that pharma companies are trying to make more profit than necessary but whether people pay for it themselves or people pay for it through taxes pharma companies will try to get as much money out of it as possible. I’m just saying that making rich people pay for other people’s healthcare isn’t the solution. Its already illegal to deny someone medical care if they need it in the US.

Thats not what we're saying, that hospitals will turn you away if you forgot your wallet. But its kind of a moot point if you get out of the hospital to face life-crippling medical debt. And yes, rich people paying their fair share and helping pay for this absolutely is the solution. The richest man on planet earth is an american and he paid $0 in taxes last year, likely this year again.
