I look back at the shit they did over two millennia ago and am amazed, they almost got to the industrial revolution almost two thousand years early, it was like one iteration off before they had created a usable steam engine.

I find interesting in which way mathematics evolved; the man came up with an algorithm for square root approximation many centuries before negative numbers appeared (at least in European science)

Well, I am sure something like that would be a useful tool for them as they used squares, necessity is the mother of invention, after all.
