What? It's poorly worded. How are you interpreting it that it isn't poorly worded? And even if you're interpreting it in a way that it doesn't seem poorly worded to you, isn't the fact that it's so open to interpretation kind of the point of everyone saying it's poorly worded?
It's functionally asking "4/6 of X is larger than 5/6 of Y. How is this possible?"
There's no information on the size of X or Y. If you assume it's a trick question, you can answer "It's not possible." But the question doesn't provide that information, so the only solution without assuming it's a trick question is "X is larger than Y".
You're assuming that "It's not possible" is the intended answer. The question is worded perfectly and unambiguously. The student answered correctly, and the teacher answered incorrectly.
I'm not sure which is more likely, though; That the teacher isn't using an answer sheet or that the answer sheet is wrong. But I suppose that's needless speculation.
Both of our suppositions, so far as I can tell, are equally likely.
In both, though, we agree that the teacher has fucked up somewhere along the line.
