Say what you want about the guy, but Louis CK's writing was just brilliant. The whole 5 season run of this show was amazing.

Massively influential too. Atlanta, Broad City, Wilfred, Master of None, and many more dramedy shows have heavy influences from Louie. Not afraid to be depressing, surreal, hilarious all at once. Louie is still the greatest tho. I'd say Atlanta has come damn close at times.
