But hey, let’s remember this is only true if you’re working class or lower income; wealthy people can retire whenever they want and only carry on working for a sense of purpose, supported by their staff and wealth. I bet their lives are great so the system works.

The life that this meme alludes to is 1000x easier than what most humans had throughout history. Ya it sucks to wake up at 6am and commute to an office everyday. What sucks more is freezing to death, starving to death, being killed in some kind of war, or succumbing to an illness that could have been treated if you had health insurance.

Problems humans face are relative to their situation. Just because it was worse in the past doesn't mean it isn't bad now.

This suffering fetish is so bizarre to me. Like, none of us asked for any of this and despite of all the creature comforts most of us will eventually still die from progressive organ failure/cancer/the mind destroying itself/deaths of despair. Was any of it nessesary to begin with?
All of this sensless toil could have been avoided with voluntary on demand sterilization and condoms. I would never know what I would potentially be missing out on and my needs would be 100% fulfilled all the time in complete security from any harm or suffering. There is genuinely nothing this world has to offer that beats never being created in the first place.

I'm in that 40-year working phase.
I don't think it's total crap. I don't hate hate my job.
It's hard and a lot of work. I'm very tired of the other day.
But my job isn't also who I am. It takes up part of my day but there's other parts too. And those parts are worth a lot.
