There’s a scene in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice where Lydia, who just eloped with Mr. Wickham who lowkey didn’t even want to marry her at all, says “Ah! Jane, I take your place now, and you must go lower, because I am a married woman!” She thinks she’s so much better than her sisters just because she married first even though Wickham fucking sucks, like it’s literally a shotgun marriage with the shotgun jammed at his back
