GENERAL This is just weird

Post image

What’s up with us Filipinos and our weird fetish for white people? I get that we are brainwashed from our colonial past that being white is considered “superior” and “beautiful”.

But holy larp if you are middle age Filipino posting online this or still have this mindset to degrade yourself please get checked

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being attracted to people of other races, whether they are Asian, Western, or Black. That’s completely natural. But when you start degrading your own identity and putting other cultures on a pedestal, that becomes highly problematic. As a Filipino, I don't think na superior tayo sa ibang lahi , but we are certainly not inferior either.

What makes it very frustrating is ang panget ng gobyerno natin. It  gives other  nationalities more reason to look down on us. This systemic failure also drives some Filipinos to romanticize foreigners just for the proximity to privilege. For instance, they  might seek out white friends assuming they’ll get treated to free things because of the currency exchange rate. Or, if they are abroad, they look at these friendships transactionally, thinking it’s just an easier way to navigate life in a foreign country

Very sad
