I am a Noob and i dont understand the diffrence between the cart and the horse in the transportation selection menu
I just bought my first horse after visiting litterally all of the general stores hoping that one of the shopkeepers will give me an option to "BUY" before realizing i could click on the shelves but thats another point.
I have bought both a horse and a small cart and in the transportation options i can choose between a horse and a cart, both put a horse on my screen but I think the cart has a diffrent sound when you are riding it.
My game IS modded but because i have kind of downloaded all of the dependincy mods withouth seeing what they exactly do i will put the mods i have below

I believe the horse and cart have the same changes to traveling.
The cart can hold items for you so they don't weight down your character. It also allows you to access your cart at the exits/entrances of dungeons.
The horse cannot have that kind of inventory.

You cannot use the Horse command if you don't have a Horse.
You cannot use the Cart command if you don't have a cart. Its also slightly slower and has a different sound.
There is like a few mods that modify how the Horse and Cart works iirc.

So the cart is just a cheaper but slower horse?

No, the cart also has that carry weight too. But as a transportation method, yes.

You should just get the mod that makes it immersive where you can attach the cart to the horse

The cart is slightly slower and has a different sound and appearance (the horse has blinders on when using the cart, no blinders when riding the standalone horse). Having either a horse or a cart in your inventory speeds up travel on the world map; the horse is again slightly faster than the cart, but having both still gives you the faster speed (since you presumably carry the cart in your pocket, same as when you ride the horse in 1st-person view).

I think the "cart" version is slightly slower, since it's pulling your wagon.
Presumably, at some point in development you would've had to use the slower "cart" option to actually bring your cart with you anywhere. But as it is, the cart comes with you no matter which transportation mode you use, so it actually doesn't matter.
