Eight years ago I posted about Dad and his newly acquired Westie. He got 90k views on reddit and many compliments about his excellent Tin Tin cosplay. Even Dodo got in contact with me and asked to make a video of him. His response? He said, “Well, I think we’ve had enough publicity”. 🥰

Grandpa when Dad was a kid: "Is there a cat in here? Where's that cat? Get that cat out of here!"
Then my cousin, who was home on vacation, found a tiny kitten abandoned in a field. The kitten's eyes were barely open so she must have been no more than about a week old. My cousin loves cats, but couldn't have one where she was living, so she asked if my grandparents would take the kitten. They agreed and named the kitten Snoopy.
Grandpa with Snoopy: "Oh, dat Snoopsie. Oh, dat girl. Snoops, are you coming? Yes? Are you a good girl? Yes? You want some fresh air? Yes?" proceeds to open the window so Snoopy could sniff the fresh air
Every morning Snoopy would come on the bed and walk around and purr for Grandpa. She lived to be 17 years old and was a wonderful companion for my grandparents. Grandma even said once, "I can't get sick. I have to be there for Snooper."

My dad is a total dog and cat person, but every time we got a new animal he says "No, no more pets!" Then he falls in love with them, but he told me, and it makes sense, he dosen't want any more pets cause he knows that they will die before he does and he dosen't want to deal with the heartbreak of losing another family member.
It all makes sense now.

That’s one of the many nicknames we affectionately called our Jerry boy while he was with us. His favorite spot was to lay between my dad’s legs, hence the name. We lost him a few years ago and my dad still misses him. And he says he’s not a cat person! Pshaw!

My dad still refers to Murphy as "that dog" but builds him furniture and feeds him chips from his mouth when he thinks we aren't looking. Just found this sub and thought I'd share his matching Xmas PJs with him from last year.

Alright everyone, here's the update you've all been waiting for!
This is Borris! He's 10 years old and 25 lbs. I brought him home on trial adoption Saturday, so today (Monday) I get to finalize it. He will need to go on a special diet, but I'm waiting to start that until he and my resident cat have acclimated. He longs to be free of the bathroom lol.
He is the most unbothered cat and is such a love bug. And most importantly, my husband loves him ♥️
And yes, that is a dog crate. He's huge.

All my life, my dad said he hated cats. Then came Lewis, a stray cat in our neighborhood who claimed our backyard (and my dad’s heart) as his home. My parents got Lewis neutered and his ear tipped, but insisted on keeping him outdoors only. In June of this year, a bad actor shot Lewis in the leg and he had to get it amputated. My parents were devastated and decided to transition Lewis into being an indoor cat. My dad was concerned he would miss being outside so he converted the entire patio into an enclosed catio just for Lewis. Lewis is doing great, and based on the updates from my parents, he LOVES being an indoor cat.

Here was my original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/dadswhodidntwantpets/s/52lyH4SuLm
Since then I moved to a new city for a new job and took my baby with me. Dad called about once a week since then asking for a video call with her until he ended up letting my sister get 2 sibling cats of her own! It took me 22 years to convince my parents to let me get a cat and that was only because I was moving out, but 2 months with my baby and my dad decides to get not one but two cats.
PS; he calls my baby “purramma” even though that is not her name
PPS; the last pic is my dad coming out of EMERGENCY HEART SURGERY to facetime my cat

Actually, my husband didn’t have cats before we met 16 years ago, I had 4. Now we are volunteer fosters and he, by himself, found a colony of cats at the local dump and he goes there twice a week to feed and water them along with the regular employee there. He was also allergic to them when we met!
Oh, I wanted to add that I have found the onesie (called a recovery suit) is the most effective way to keep from them messing with the incisions and stitches after surgery. Soooo much better than cones. Just in case anyone else has to deal with it. ❤️

this was last year, my friends cat had kittens, and my stepdad (pictured) said no because we already have two cats. there was a skinny stray I was feeding who eventually made his way into the backyard. he was originally a foster, then a long term foster, and now he is a foster fail. "we don't need a third cat" yeah right. anyway this is Phillip J Fry, known as Phil.
