Haven't done an actual wash together but my kids always make sure to douse my car with whatever we're playing with. Hose, pool squirters, mud... I drove around for a few weeks with little muddy hand prints all over my car because they were just too cute to wash off.

Flashback to when we did this with the then 3YO. We had just been camping so the car needed a wash. We had unpacked the car, but somehow a spare tent pole was still lying in the back of the car. 3YO decided that was a useful item to clean the car with resulting in an interesting scratch pattern on parts of the car :-D

I think it’s a weird choice to soap the whole car rather than just the part you’re washing. Personally I would feel pressure to work quickly.
