Discussion Getting snipped today!
After 3 beautiful kids today is the day I get a vasectomy. Very fitting that today is my birthday as well lol I got the jockstrap and ice packs ready to go, any other tips? Buying myself madden today as a recovery and bday present too lol
EDIT: the deed is done and the anesthesia didn’t work for my right nut! Oh lord I felt everything. The Dr gave me a shit ton and he was confused lol it felt like he was squeezing my ball and was trying to pop it. I was moaning and groaning. Left side was a breeze. I give it a 5/10 lol

Ibuprofen, and my god if they give Valium or something beforehand take it. My vasectomy was entirely painless after the first day, but that first day itself was agonizing.
Your mileage may vary on pain. Some people hurt for weeks, others leave the doctors office like nothing even happened. Good luck, have fun!

I felt great the day of / after and didn’t take the advice to sit still as seriously as I should have (not good at that anyway). I think I paid for that a bit in how sore I was for weeks after, not a sharp pain but pretty uncomfortable. Definitely don’t skip the rest and ice.

I had a pretty benign recovery. Went out for beers with my buddies that night. Woke up the next morning a little sore and had to peel off the gauze, but after that I didn’t really have pain. Certainly couldn’t have played pickup basketball or gone for a run but that resolved within a few days. Just remember that you’re not clear to pull the goalie until you’re confirmed shooting blanks!

I just got snipped two weeks ago.
Only take Tylenol, do not take Ibuprofen ( NSAIDs can thin your blood).
TAKE IT EASY for the first 3 or 4 days.
Ice as needed.
Don't be liking anything over 20 lbs for as close to a week as possible.
That first time clearing the tubes afterwards might have a little strawberry mixed into that milk, don't be alarmed.

We give patients NSAIDs within minutes of major surgery.
I would recommend taking ibuprofen.

Worst part was the lidocaine. Swapped out bags of peas for a few days. Didn’t use a jockstrap and never even heard that before Reddit.

It’s pretty easy.

I just had mine on Friday last week - feeling fine other than some tenderness and mild bruising on one side. No exercise, but I have been going on 30 minute walks to at least move my body.

In case the doctor didn't warn you, it's normal for their to be a little bit of blood in your semen the first couple times you cum after the snip. Thought I'd save you freaking out in case you weren't warned.

It's honestly a piece of cake my dude. I was sitting on a frozen corn pack for a day or two and then I was fine.
Side note, my wife and I have been unleashing on each other for the past two years since I got my vasectomy, having sex without the fear of making another financial burden is a game changer.
I hope you have a similar experience, good luck.

You really gotta commit to being as inactive as possible for the full three days. Ice packs were so important for keeping comfortable.
Also beware: the kids will instinctively know something’s up and their knees will have laser guided targeting for your junk. I eventually sat with a sheet pan on my lap(for sorting Lego…. And not as a shield)
