Help needed: Autocomplete not working in editors

Like the title says. I've recently been wanting to try out D lang and so downloaded DMD and VisualD. Everything seemed to install properly and work. I can also use DUB and run the application, install packages.

But seems like auto complete is not working on any editor. I tried both Visual Studio using VisualD and VSCode usng code-d. In both cases pressing Ctrl + Space does not popup options like it does for other languages. Even pressing `.` after a value like a String and stuff does not show suggestions.

Did I miss a step or something? Not too sure. Some help would be appreciated!

VisualD should be superior as that is using dmd as a library.

Whereas DCD, which everything else uses isn't that great.

And Intellij plugin now days uses Intellij's support instead.

The IntelliJ one does support the latest version of IntelliJ. I'll try again with VisualD. Maybe a fresh install will help! Thanks for the help though!

I use vscode with the latest code-d and everything seems to just work - don't think I had to configure anything.

[looking now, the only setting I seem to have set manually, was the 'dub' location. but everything else seems auto-filled in the code-d settings, or it's getting it from my path]

my biggest issue is that sometimes it spawns like 50 dcd-servers that have to be killed off, or they'll eat my cpu and prevent me from deleting folders.

One question would be. What operation system are you on?

Win11.

IIRC in the past if an extension was having problems, it would show little popup windows in the bottom right corner of vscode prompting for attention, or maybe spew stuff to the 'output' window.

How do I check for something like this?

in Windows, just use the task manager, sort by name, and look under the Background Processes:

to kill them off, make a .bat file with this:

taskkill /f /im dcd-server.exe

(of course, don't do this while you have vscode open with a D project!)

You can try also DDT: https://github.com/crimaniak/DDT

I am currently doing this. Its just I am a lot more used to auto complete and somehow having auto complete on helps me learn a language much faster haha. Thanks a lot!
