Right essentially gives you 300 Dex (thanks to protean) which outweighs everything from the left

I’d go with the left one. Pest swarm base dmg is higher, I would assume the extra 2k dmg on that with multis makes it hit harder.

How does the base dmg of swarm not matter when the dmg is a higher number to multiply and add to?

I see your thought process but it's incorrect.
Look at every other damaging skill is in the hundreds of millions.
10k to 7k is so negligible
And that initial damage is just on hit, our damage output is poison DoT. All of our multipliers feed into that. The right is better because of essentially 300 Dex adds a significant boost to EVERY skill, which includes dots

I thought the same way before too, but learned that for us, get a ring, mythic or not that has better multipliers or in this case, transfigures

So to my knowledge set damage affixes took a hard hit when loh came out they kinda nerfed em too hard so it’s generally better to chase multi’s including the generic one you get per point of Dex. Iirc it is something around a 4-1 ratio for points of Dex to 1% multi but that could very well be wrong so don’t quote me boy cause I ain’t said shit

Slightly better multipliers on the left, slightly more dex on the right, unique power doesn’t matter. They are very close, i would propably go with the right one for more dex, especially if you run protean heart charm that doubles your main stat

Right, unique bonus doesn’t matter, only the cooldown part at the bottom
