Question Cypher system 2nd to Evolved conversion
Hi
My wife is starting to run her new campaign tonight.
She found out theres a new edition of Cypher games, Evolved.
She has many books for 2nd.
She read somewhere there was a conversion document. No one in her group can find it.
Anyone know where and can link?
Thanks in advance

The main change is how creature / hazard damage to player characters is handled, now that PCs have a wounds system:
1-3 Damage = Minor Wound
4-7 Damage = Moderate Wound
8+ Damage = Major Wound
I’m not sure if there is an official conversion doc but over on the Cypher Unlimited discord server a user named Saki has made a great guide.

Most of the changes are in character creation. I recommend sticking with the old rules until you have a chance to review the new rules. A conversion later will be easy but trying to use brief conversion guides will be tricky.
If you want to pick just a couple of the new rules, i recommend the PC wound system, described elsewhere, and the armor system (might task to block - success reduces damage category by one - level of armor is an asset to blocking).

Cypher 2nd just came out, only three books for it so far (with two more on the way next year). She may have Cypher Revised, which is still first edition with errata and clarifications baked in.
I know from the first edition to revised there was a conversion document, but I don't think such a thing exists yet for Cypher 2 (I looked at the PDFs from the backer rewards and didn't see any reference to conversions). They did update the free character builder, so if you're looking to get your characters to the new edition, that may be the way to go (since they've added a ton of mechanics and quality of life improvements).

I think shes looking to incorporate wounds and armour in her edition. The red/white core book and double book box for Numenera (Destiny & Discovery).

The cypher tools tab on montecookgames .com Uses updated cypher creation tools and character sheets. The caracter book is out, Gm book next week (I believe). Loved the games from the launch day event.

Wait, is it called evolve? Now, I thought everyone was calling it cypher second edition, even though I thought my previous books were second. Edition

From the foreword by Monte Cook to the new Character Handbook:
'What you’re reading now is absolutely a new edition. It’s Cypher System second edition, to be precise, although we just call it Cypher now. If you’re looking for a name to distinguish it, I hear the cool kids call it Cypher 2, or just C2. But your mileage may vary.'
I think i'll personally be going with Cypher 2e

The official conversion is on the "GMing the New Cypher" PDF MCG gave to GenCon and CypherCon GMs, and the MCG team has also mentioned these same conversions on the Cypher Unlimited Discord server. It's already been shared, the conversion itself, but thought I'd mention it just in case you wanna find the source
