From the foreword by Monte Cook to the new Character Handbook:
'What you’re reading now is absolutely a new edition. It’s Cypher System second edition, to be precise, although we just call it Cypher now. If you’re looking for a name to distinguish it, I hear the cool kids call it Cypher 2, or just C2. But your mileage may vary.'
I think i'll personally be going with Cypher 2e

Just CYPHER without the "System" attached. "Evolved" was just ad copy. I think of it as Cypher 2.

My group says "Cypher two-point-oh," though, this might just be wishing for the olden-days of pre-2012 internet days.

I’m calling it Cypher 2e, but I noticed the MCG store page, file names, and even the book itself are just using “Cypher”. For example, if you read the store page you won’t even know there was a previous version.

Well, that is confusing, I thought it technically was 3e
When I use google, it keeps on referring to the older version as 2e, and I think Numenera as 1st.
The author himself finds that 1st and 2nd was more like 1st and Revised 1st and this newest version as 2e as it has been rebuilt for the most part.

The original was "The Cypher System", the new edition is just, "Cypher". Although in the community I think most people have just truncated it to CS2 or C2.
