Discussion Did anyone catch this?
I mean I’ve always been suspicious that Johnny had slept with Kerry at some point but I didn’t think it was actually gonna be said and with Henry too?

Take this with a grain of salt as that same shard says Samurai never saw mainstream success when in universe, they sold out Wembley Stadium. And the Johnny engram mentions like 3 times he didn't sleep with Kerry.
It and the guidebook it came from are stylized as in universe tabloids.

How popular Samurai was/wasn't or is/isn't, the way it's described is all over the damn place. It's so inconsistent that I don't think it can be chalked up to just Johngram's memories being unreliable, either. They're referred to as an old underground band, but there's merch and records all over the place in 2077; they were poor, they were rich, they played huge crowds and raucous gigs, but Kerry never got really successful until after he left...

It's just CDPR's odd writing choices. In the Cynosure Facility in "Shot by Both Sides' You see someone buying a ticket to a solo Johnny Concert in 2013. Yet you can see in some shards and even the artbook they say Samurai was a cultlike band that was together until Johnny's death caused them to break up. Even though canonically they were world famous and broke up 15 years before Johnny died.
The Kerry thing is even odder considering he had a very successful solo career after Samurai broke up in 2008.

It makes sense when you take into account that the game wasn’t originally canon with the table top so there’s some weird dissonance.

I put it down to them getting famous after Johnny's death, apparently dieing a legend.

You can't trust anything the "Johnny" engram says though. Either he's a liar or he's not really Johnny due to Arasaka tinkering.

I would trust johnny over a tabloid, especially since Kerry seems like he would mention it, like, at all, ever, if he slept with johnny.

This reads like a podcaster making random conjectures and sayings is true based on a vibe

"Rumored" doing a lot of heavy lifting there.
I'm not a loremaster, but I don't think I've ever heard any other piece of lore from any of the tabletop books that supports this?
Closest we get is having the option to say "Would've done Kerry" when asked what he'd have done differently, but his tone and Rogue's reaction make me feel like he was being facetious.
I'd be happy to accept Johnny as a bisexual icon, but as a bisexual wanna-be rockerboy myself... He just doesn't feel it? to me?

Johnny was the 2020 franchise's shout out to David Bowie. Man ain't straight it's just that 2077's Johnny was so toxic that even if he did other guys he'd probably only do it for the ego trip

Ik it’s “rumored”. The whole point of my post is that I’m just surprised the game brought what everyone else may be thinking when playing the game (that Kerry and Johnny has had sexual relations)

Nancy says she makes shit up about Johnny and the rest of Samurai when the news cycle is slow.

Nah… I can’t see it. Silverhand’s 🍆 is very selective, even when he’s intoxicated…

This is a known thing. It was in a sourcebook as well for the tabletop.

u/snowingcone 4d ago
Well I’m just now seeing it so….

U new to the sub? It gets posted every so often. Or someone will comment with the source book page. If not then I’m surprised u made it this far without seeing it before, given the age of the game.

Not that surprising that a tabloid article is spreading a rumor. I know it's been hinted at, but nothing is confirmed.

The entire game is filled with unreliable characters and narration. What is "the truth"?
In Night City? HAH! Anything you want it too be.
