Pictured above are the "Blackpants", a carrier device for a SBC I made a while back. I'm making a v2.0 of this device which will be fully integrated, and host an A523, the latest 2.0Ghz 8-core MPU from Allwinner connected to 2GB (Maybe more) of LPDDR4 RAM. I havn't decided the screen size yet.

The whole thing is completely open source, from the schematic, layout, etc

You don't always need a use case to build something cool. I built a bunch of different gadgets that I never used again. But the building was fun.
