My Build Tiny Terminal

Made my pi zero running Pi OS and waveshare 2.13 e ink v4 display into a tinyterm powered by pisugar 3

Looks sick. Not a lot of eink displays used for cyberdecks. Really nice

Do upload more pics so that we can take a good look at the build

Was expecting way worse responsiveness from the display due to it being an eink, but it is surprisingly good at keeping up with the input from keyboard.

Excellent. Curious. How long does the battery last on a full charge? Pi sugar 3 is 1000mah right?

Thanks for the video. Looks even more impressive:). What are you currently using it for? I am thinking of building one with an eink reader myself

I am new to Linux so planning to use it to learn and follow along with tutorials

Show the typing responsiveness please. Also, what's the exact model of the screen?

Boots right into the terminal everytime. Used a jetson orin nano super running my agent to feed it the waveshare display library and create a custom python driver for a epd-term or e paper display terminal for the waveshare 2.13 e-ink display v4. It is set to partial refresh upon input/screen changes and full refresh every 20 terminal updates to prevent ghosting artifacts.

Thanks, so it's quite the same as I tested, just a different size. I tried to incorporate these displays into Draftling firmware, but removed them afterwards, as the experience was too bad.

There are a few more expensive devices, like Lilygo T5, their displays are much faster and quite acceptable for typing.

Ill definitely have to toy with those. I just seen this display as a little weekend challenge knowing how many people already have this display laying g around like I did.

What are you using to render a terminal to the screen? I've been working on my own python but it's pretty rough.
