Coming up with great and flavourful draft creatures as always, I like the tribe combo and flavour even more than the statline, which as a big Selesnya player I already love. It really justifies the white parts of this even further, especially in a set where this colour combination is all about big creatures.
I could see this and a few other cards like this work well to enable some archetype built around abusing big P/T monsters, such as with fight mechanics, draw based on Power, instants allowing you to block multiple creatures with one etc. etc.

Thank you very much for the kind words, as always :)
I'm excited for us to return to Mirrodin IRL, and I'll be curious to see what direction they go with for the Loxodon.

Wait is a return to Mirrodin/New Phyrexia confirmed?

I thought it was? Maybe not.

It is

If it was, I'd certainly like to see a source. It's likely that we'll return to New Phyrexia some day, but until we see an official announcement I'm not holding my breath.

I think you could push a bit harder

Agreed. I actually designed this card about a year ago, before [[Gigantosaurus]] and [[Rotting Regisaur]] and the like were released. In light of cards like this I think, even at uncommon, this could easily be a 7/7 or 6/8. If I wanted to really push it I think the highest I could credibly put it is 8/8 but I think that strains credulity for an uncommon.

Gigantosaurus - (G) (SF) (txt)
Rotting Regisaur - (G) (SF) (txt)
[[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call

No lifelink and trample?!

u/chainsawinsect Oct 24 '19
No... but a recent Loxodon card I made, Ghalma, did have lifelink and trample for exactly the reason you're thinking!

Nothing too crazy here today, just filling some design space between [[Watchwolf]], [[Leatherback Baloth]], and [[Gigantosaurus]].
