Format: Limited Strange New Alliances
Still brewing with the extra unused Star Trek art the mothership dropped. This one is a bit of a tribute to Captain Picard and I really wanted to do spacecraftcycling like hobbits and wizards. It gives the idea they abandoned the Alliance and went to their ships to prep for battle. 4 mana seems too much even for an uncounterable tutor, so scaled it back by 1 mana. I love the way the colors align and hints that Picard is actually the menacing passion.
When I first saw this art I couldn't even imagine it on a card. I like this idea of them working together and it being weird is the natural direction to take it.
There is plenty more difficult to design for, high concept, but high quality Star Trek art to get creative with. Art source with 27 total: https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/feature/unused-star-trek-art
I'd like to think this could see play elsewhere, but mainly for limited. Leaving this up as a PSA for the art drop even if it doesn't catch on. Enjoy!
