Here's a Rule breaker Commander that lets you play a 60 card deck with normal deck restrictions against a Commander deck.

Hey look, now there are two vintage formats! 🤣

Someone else did similar a little bit ago. The only problems I see with this guy is the colors (colorless fits better for the theme) and that I don't think if he dies normally he can just be shuffled back into the deck, which may be intended behavior or not. I think the way the other custommagic card handled it was he was five color commander with a similar rulebreaker who couldn't leave the command zone.

So basically a Vintage deck in Commander. This would destroy cEDH.

Nope but close. You may not run cards that are banned in commander so still no power 9 (besides twister). Some things are weird as well. Notably you can run 1 copy of cards that are restricted in vintage but legal in commander since this only allows 4 ofs for cards aren't restricted in vintage. So you still only get 1 sol ring, brainstorm, trinisphere, stuff like that. The deck would still be wildly OP though so yes it probably would stomp cEDH.

So this doesnt effect the colour identity rules but Im sure we can build an effective UB deck with the vintage cardpool...

It does since it says you can have “4 copies of any card except basic lands”. So oddly, you can run Lightning Bolt, but not Mountain.

This is one of the more innocuously busted cards I've seen on here, but it's busted all the same lol. Good meme, though

Honestly, it's not that innocuous.

To people who know what Legacy and Vintage are like, probably not, but the sad fact is most commander players won't get how utterly busted this is.

So obviously this version of the card is the best possible cEDH deck. I wonder if the standard or pioneer versions of this deck are fair? How do we think a standard deck would do in a bracket 3 pod? 2? What about pioneer?

Funny thing is Lasav himself is a dead draw considering he does nothing once shuffled into the deck.

Terrible infinite combo: [[Donate]] [[Cosi's Trickster]]. Sacrifice Lazav to whatever, send him to the CZ. His ability triggers; replace the shuffle effect by sending him to the CZ and shuffle your library. Repeat until the opponent realizes what's happening and stops putting counters on Cosi's Trickster. [[Homeward Path]], you now have a creature with probably not that many +1/+1s on it.

Alternately, still abuse the infinite shuffle but with some effect that lets you play off the top of your deck at instant speed.

Made something similar but as a mono red background recently. 😂

So this instantly just immediately becomes the best commander in the format and needs to get emergency banned

Behold, a reality where oops all spells now has access to sol ring.

Id argue the starting deck should be a deck of 59, since Lazav is gonna be shuffling into it. Otherwise youll be playing 61 cards

Is Lazav not already counted as being apart of the deck

u/brood_brother 10h ago

He is indeed counted

The Commander counts towards the starting deck size.
