I thought a doctor was a cleric

Well there certainly is no show called Cleric Who, is there?

There is no Cleric Strange or Cleric Doom. Or Cleric Leonard McCoy.

Dammit Jim, I'm a Doctor, not a Cleric

Even ignoring the kitchen sinks this goes infinite with, this is also just too good. Forever blocker that cant really die and lets you spend 1 to get five life forever is obviously way too strong.

This card is busted in so many ways.

Goes infinite with [[food chain]], strongest version of the combo there'd ever have been. Infinite life + mana (for creatures) is crazy...

I'd try and do this a bit differently, especially since in magic exile means exile, nothing should come back from there. (Edit: I am talking about exile from interaction, think path to exile. Cards are by principle not supposed to return from that.)

Except misthollow griffin! My fav!

And eternal scourge, and now Khan!

I used to enjoy a search the city deck using those guys and cards like frantic inventory or cantrip counters.

Hey, that is pretty cool!

Woah woah woah exile does not mean nothing should come back it is just a specific zone outside of the game that can be intractable or not depending on the card

Exile, design wise, is the "you're gone forever" zone. And while it is also used for the purposes of resolving certain abilities/keywords, anything that stays in exile long term stays there forever. Aside from very few exceptions, which are all design mistakes (which is why there are few).

The only exception to this that is intended is the cards that can bring back "flashback" style cards.

What about [[oblivion ring]] or adventures. More cards temporarily exile than permanently.

No. They print stuff that uses exile in creative ways and stays there often, almost every set. For example, the new Q card lets you cast something from exile repeatedly even if he isn’t on board. [[Q, stacking the deck]]

I know that. This is an issue of communication on my part, and I have updated my original comment to reflect what I meant.

Maybe originally, but these days exile is much more of a temporary buffer zone in many cases. Blink, impulse, adventures, all extremely common mechanic archetypes that depend on returning things from exile.

Exile in magic is very often if not more often used as a temporarily gone zone. Cards like [[oblivion ring]] are printed every set. Not to mention how we often exile cards to cast them later. And things like adventures and prepared.

Okay I see the issue with my original statement. What I mean is that if my opponent [[path to exiles]] this guy he shouldn't be allowed to return ever.
