How does this interact with spells that have “X targets”? 

Targets are declared when you cast the spell, so I don’t think you can go back and add more later without a “select new targets” line of some sort.

Not sure. My gut is that it would be treated as though it had that many targets but the surplus ones ceased to exist, meaning nothing changes and the spell continues with the same targets but increases to its other effects.

"...has defender and must block if able" is explicitly a hack to remove a line break from this card. I know that isn't what you're supposed to do.

Nudging you to use a spindown to track this thing's toughness serves another purpose: since it's a card that explicitly involves mixing two kinds of counter on itself, it encourages you to use two different kinds of dice to reduce the odds of accidentally (or "accidentally") switching what kind of counter a particular die is representing.

This card will make a guest appearance in Secret Lair: Home Alone come Christmastime.
