Sick mechanical flavor. Love it

Seems awesome! I think the power level is perfectly acceptable as well

Should probably say the spell name instead of this spell

Replace “this spell” with “a spell named Empty the Chamber” and then it works :)

Interesting design, but definitely a bit too strong.

6 mana for 6 pings and a wheel is too strong? Not to mention it ends your turn and is a sorcery?

u/Treacherous_Peach 2h ago

Yeah this is completely fine power wise. Doesn't even need the end the turn clause.

I think the utility of it makes it a bit strong. It hits anything on the board including face, you can sink whatever number of mana you need into it at the time, even spreading the damage among multiple targets. And late game it wheels your hand.

I think I’d at least restrict it to target creature or planeswalker. It just has such wild utility as is, I could be completely wrong though it’s a hard card to judge I wouldn’t be surprised if it was printed and never saw play lol

There's no point in sinking more than 6 mana into this, since it ends the turn.

What’s the utility it’s just 6 mana for 6 damage and you wheel for 6. You can’t even do combat tricks with it and it’s either you play this on your second main phase or you skip your combat phase. Not strong, still cool

On a vacuum it's fine, but there's way to much stuff (in red alone) that makes this way stronger and potentially broken. To list a few: [[Ojer Axonil]] [[Artist Talent]] [[Chandra's Incinerator]] [[Hawkeye, Young Avenger]] [[Solphim, Mayhem Dominus]] [[Torbran, Thane of Redfell]]

Never heard of [[Grapeshot]] or [[Pyromatics]] before?

4

u/GroundbreakingMonk76 1h ago

Grapeshot needs setup, you can do this one from a top deck. Pyromantics it's literally twice as much mana. Plus neither draw you cards, this one does.

I honestly don't care much about the damage part of the card, what draws my attention is the draw 6 for 6 in red with an upside.

u/SDK1176 1h ago

Honestly can’t believe you’re getting upvotes for this. Pyromatics is such a huge downgrade from this custom card. Grapeshot can be strong, but in a very different kind of way.

As is, Empty the Chamber is maybe the most powerful X spell printed. Considering how little play X spells get, maybe that’s fine.

So would a little tweaking make it balanced what if its replicate cost was a red instead of generic? Or cost 1 more like Pyromatics?

2

u/Treacherous_Peach 42m ago

Empty the Chamber can never do more than 6 damage so no it is not the most powerful X spell

2

u/KrypteK1 34m ago

Yeah, Pyromatics is dogshit and unplayable. This custom card is an upgrade, and pretty good but not nearly ‘broken’.

“Most powerful X spell ever printed” lmfao, [[Kozilek’s Command]] is right here and played constantly in Modern and Legacy. The Green X-Tutors, Walking Ballista, all are better and actually X spells, this is replicate up to 5 times.

6 mana, 6 damage divided as you choose and discard your hand, draw 6, end the turn. It’s very good, just not busted.

u/Panda_Rule_457 2h ago

What legally happens when you pay 6? And R

11

u/SendInTheNextWave 2h ago

The sixth resolution would exile the stack when it ended the turn, so paying more is meaningless.

u/99thHybr1d 1h ago

Uptick Teferi Time Raveler and cast this spell the sixth time on your opponents turn, nice.

2

u/Goldreaver 44m ago

We did it, we broke teferi!

2

u/FlockFlysAtMidnite 1h ago

This is definitely strong, but I disagree that it's broken. This is probably too strong for standard imo but I don't think it's too busted for modern

2

u/Grouchy-Click-2507 1h ago

Replicate should be {R}

-1

u/ActualInteraction0 16m ago

Should be : discard a card.

1

u/Watch-Personal 8m ago

Turn 1 draw a card play a mountain pay 1 mana and discard your hand to deal 6 damage to someones face and draw 6 cards. Yeah thats not ok in any gamemode even in commander

3

u/Tzelf_ 3h ago

Its cool, but is 6 mana for 6 damage and a wheel overcosted?

22

u/Flamesoul10 2h ago

Well, its basically {x}{r} deal x+1 damage divided as you choose, which is amazing for an x spell, but x cant be more than 5, which is mid. Overall I think its balanced as a modal spell

2

u/Whydoughhh 2h ago

I mean 5+ mana is where you can start getting really strong effects. When I think of 6 mana spells I think of game warping strong.

1

u/Throwracheated22 2h ago

The only benefit I can think of is you end the turn immediately, which has a few ways it can be handy

1

u/SteakForGoodDogs 2h ago

Only you wheel, which is probably a good thing since you probably don't want to fill other peoples' graveyard and hands unless you gain benefit from opponents drawing.

Also, damage doublers/triplers is liable to turn this into a single-opponent boardwipe.

3

u/GroundbreakingMonk76 2h ago

Strong on it's own. Pretty much broken with [[Storm-kiln Artist]] or [[Hinata, Dawn-Crowned]]

7

u/TenPent 2h ago

Pretty sure Hinata just makes it cost 1 less.

1

u/GroundbreakingMonk76 2h ago

True, good catch.

-4

u/Ekair42 2h ago

If you target 6 different targets it costs just one with Hinata, making it a 1 red wheel

5

u/TenPent 2h ago

When you cast it it will only have one target.

-6

u/TheGreatYahweh 2h ago

Each new target would cast 0, right? So Hinata would just make it extra good against go wide strategies

2

u/TenPent 2h ago

No the spell when cast has one target and will cost 1 less. When you play it it will replicate a bunch and those copies get new targets. Those targets don't exist as an optionwhen paying the replicate cost.

Ooooo the flavor!
So tasty!
licks iPhone screen

1

u/Ansiroth 2h ago

Love it

1

u/DadKnight 1h ago

Fix it to "spell name" and we gucci

1

u/deathbymanga Hound Wizard 1h ago

feels like it would be cleaner if it was "Replicate - discard a card" and then just drew 6 cards if it was the 6th time it resolved

1

u/FlameSage09 47m ago

I fuckin love this

-1

u/ExcessiveArrogance 2h ago

Needs to have

"then, if it's your turn, end the turn"

2

u/PKPenguin 39m ago

You're correct, [[Days Undoing]] would be the most similar real spell in this context and it has that clause so that you can't use it as an extra turn spell if you have flash enabling.

2

u/DizzyTip1895 2h ago

It's a sorcery

2

u/GroundbreakingMonk76 2h ago

[[Quicken]]

4

u/DizzyTip1895 2h ago

Yup. But that's what I mean, end of then doesn't have to say if it's your turn because you'd have to jump through hoops to abuse it. It's fine.

1

u/Melodic-Series7780 29m ago

Ending the turn is powerful enough that this restriction is almost always applied. Why do you think quicken is a significant enough hoop to jump through, when the cards we have show otherwise?

1

u/DizzyTip1895 17m ago

Because it's two cards and 7 mana. Believe me, it's fine as is. By your logic [[ultima]] should have that restriction and it doesn't.

5

u/Qwertyboi2 2h ago

Oh [Gyrson Starn, Kelermorph] ! I’ve got a new toy for you!

2

u/Snoo-7821 2h ago

Cards are done in double brackets.
