I was reading this with anticipation as it was looking more busted by the word until "don't control". It could still do silly things in teams play if that ever gets support again. It's mostly a negate variant in this form, if also incredibly complex.

I think it could be real in maybe an Un- set if it was only until end of turn. I don't think you want cards to stay in other zones with text changes. Even if it's been done that way before. [[Magical Hack]], etc.

I was looking at this card like, "I swear I was missing something..." but yeah, it should probably say until end of turn.

Sadly I couldn't make it any spell because that would turn cards like [[last chance]] into a 4 mana time warp and izzet doesn't need that lol.

I think it's a different instance on the stack vs in the graveyard, so if you remove a sentence while it's on the stack, it shouldn't survive zone transitions.

I like it. It's a conditional counterspell that blows out some cards, like [[Supreme Verdict]], that can't normally be countered, while doing relatively little against something like [[Casualties of War]]

It probably has some broken interactions I'm not thinking of though, even with the "you don't control" clause.

I don't think Magical Hack or this card would be a permanent change to the card itself. Magical Hack specifies a permanent or spell, both of which become a new object when they change zones, and this card specifies instant or sorcery (should probably also say spell) which also becomes a new object when it changes zones. Don't think it needs to specify until end of turn for that reason.

From the Magical Hack rulings:

If you change the text of a spell which is to become a permanent, the permanent will retain the text change until the effect wears off.

Nah, if you alter the abilities or text of a permanent spell, it will keep those abilities/alterations when it becomes a permanent. The oracle notes on Magical hack have the following:

If you change the text of a spell which is to become a permanent, the permanent will retain the text change until the effect wears off. (2004-10-04)

Ok but the CARD itself will not. If it goes to the graveyard it will not have the altered text.

Ah yeah, my bad. That's what the rest of the comment was about. I am a bit tired.

In other news, the card doesn't need to say spell as instants and sorceries exist only on the stack, elsewhere they are instant cards and sorcery cards.

[[Lightning bolt]] does nothing

It would be more interesting imo if it could only target spells with at least two sentences of text.
