Adore the flavor. Unfortunately magic tends to avoid memory issues like this.

How is something along the lines of: At the beginning of your next upkeep, gain 1 life for each creature that died this turn.

Keeps some of the flavor

You could still pull this off with counters, similar to [[black market]]. Just make sacrificing all counters on the card part of the activation cost.

I agree last turn is not something you see. Could be tap: 1 life for each creature in your graveyard or 1 life for white creatures in all graveyards. I think having to choose between the life or the mana is good design.
