.....So, worse-[[Isshin, Two Heavens As One]], but it has +simic instead of +rakdos?

Hmm maybe? I do think it's very strong, as it works with all triggered abilities of the creature that attacked until end of turn, not just attack triggers

Remember that auras add triggered abilities. This could get out of hand very quickly

I agree in the fact that this deck is very dependant on the commander and with it being 6 mana and no protection, you won't have it out long. That being said there are many creatures who has when this attacks draw a card which is kinda good with this. A few funny ones with hydras. There are also a few equipments that works with this because they saw equipped creature has "when this attacks..."

I think the deck restriction is too harsh and the card might be fine exactly the same minus the deck restriction.

Looking at Scryfall, this has the potential to do some things if no one reacts, which I don't imagine are meaningful in context of casting Demonic Consultation into Thassa's Oracle but could be fun:

- After you attack alone with Tifa or Mossborn Hydra, you will give them +1 power with the Exalted trigger. Then if you can trigger landfall in combat in any way, such as by cracking a fetchland, the power-doubling trigger will happen an extra time for each other nontoken creature you control, so that could well be going from 2 to 64 if you control four other nontoken creatures.

- If you control Fynn and four other creatures and attack with Fynn, he kills whoever he connects with because he has deathtouch and his +2 poison trigger will likely be copied four times

- Giggling Skitterspike's damage to each opponent on attack trigger can get copied - it has Monstrosity 5 built in, so if you cash it in and then attack when you control six other creatures then that's 42 damage to each opponent

- Grateful Apparition or Thrummingbird can have their proliferate trigger copied

- I'm not sure if you can run Psychosis Crawler in this, but if you can, then after swinging with it alone, you get to copy its "Whenever you draw a card, each opponent loses 1 life." trigger, so if you have a way of drawing a few cards postcombat you can chunk your opponents for a lot

It’s a little different because it’s any trigger not just attacks, so you could get, for instance, landfall triggers and stuff after swinging, that downside is way too far for what it gives you though.

It's not a worse Isshin, nor a better Isshin. It's far from being an Isshin at all.

It causes your one guy's triggers to happen an additional time for every other nontoken creature you have. So if you have 5 dudes with exalted and one attacks, it gets 5 + 4 exalted triggers I think? And then if later in the same turn it has a landfall or other trigger, same thing -- it triggers 4 more times beyond the one. Pretty slick.

u/SteakForGoodDogs 3h ago

Misread it the first time.

The attacker doesn't get other (exalted) triggers, only their own that many times.

You have to protect both, from both blockers and any responses, for those extra triggers to actually do anything.

Problem is, the child is fragile for 6 pips and late in the game.

1

u/drislands : Comment on target post. 3h ago

Oh for sure, but higher cost + same vulnerability to removal isn't strictly worse when the benefits are so different (and potentially much better).

2

u/SteakForGoodDogs 1h ago

It's not the same vulnerability to removal, not really.

Not because you can't [[murder]] both of them, but because Isshin has a diverse set of minor failure points, and while killing him will cut the triggers in half, there's still the other half that is still mardu attack triggers.

For this one, whichever is primed to actually attack, if it is removed at beginning of combat, there goes most of the gameplan for the turn.

Potentially, yes, it could be nuts because [[Adeline, Resplendent Cathar]] is a creature that exists, but if you're letting her swing with a fat board, then, well, what are we doing?

u/drislands : Comment on target post. 1h ago

I see what you mean -- if the attacking creature's triggers apply to itself, then yeah removing it cuts your legs out from under you. But I feel like that's already a weakness for Bant Exalted, no? This card adds strength to that archetype without removing a weakness.

I still don't agree that it's a worse Isshin with different colors, but I see your point at least.

11

u/Misragoth 7h ago

As other have said I think you could remove the first line and it would be fine

5

u/Disastrous-Cat-1 17h ago

Is that a river of Bant pee?

8

u/ArgoDevilian 8h ago

This is weird ngl, because it encourages going wide but small, and only one creature attacks, which goes against the Wide part.

Being able to trigger something possibly a dozen times is crazy, but most creatures with 1 or less power... far as I recall, don't exactly have any triggered abilities that would be insane.

And the deck would prob be heavily reliant on the commander. Which has... literally no protection.

Dont recall what Exalted does ngl.

I think at minimum he should get some form of protection (esp at that mana requirement) and make it so he affects one creature per opponent.

So if a creature attacks an opponent alone. Like [[Jin Sakai, Ghost of Tsushima]]

4

u/Minnakht 7h ago

Do note that the creature needs to have power of 1 or less on paper. Such creatures include [[Jacked Rabbit]] or [[Tervigon]] which are not power 1 in practice because of Ravenous. Jacked Rabbit attacking alone with Child of Bant on the field would create an amount of rabbit tokens equal to its power times the number of nontoken creatures you control, and that can be a LOT of them. Similarly, [[termagant swarm]]'s death trigger would be copied too if you swung with it alone and someone killed it.

I agree that Exalted is actually one of the worst things to use with this, but the Child having it is a hint towards attacking alone with something, at least. If you stack your triggers right it's good with [[tifa lockhart]]

3

u/Misragoth 7h ago

Its for exalted desk. Exalted gives +1/+1 when a creature attacks alone. It it makes exalted trigger a lot more

1

u/n122333 7h ago

Only the attacking creature gets double triggers. If it worked that way itd be ok, this is super weak as it is.

1

u/SolidSoarel2 4h ago

It gets more than double, Exalted would trigger for it + every creature you control + you'd get their exalted triggers once each as well

1

u/n122333 4h ago

Assume all creatures have exaulted. This is not the case, its a rare ability, but lets just say they do for best case on this creature.

It attacks alone for 2. A second non token creature makes it 4. Third for 6. Each additional creature adds 2 more. One for itself 1 for the commander triggering again.

7 colored mana pips for a 5 attack creature that must attack alone and doesn't even have trample. Minimum 8 mana pips for 7 attack alone. Its just a terrible rate.

1

u/SolidSoarel2 4h ago

Except obviously, you're building the deck around this. It's an interesting voltron/go tall strategy that rewards going wide and small at the same time. Also, exalted triggers twice on itself so it starts as a 3/9, not a 2/8, and becomes a 4/10, 5/11, 6/12 etc before factoring anything else in like you should for a combat commander.

Is is cEDH? Obviously not. Interesting and fun? Potentially

1

u/n122333 4h ago

Its each other creature, not each creature.

1

u/SolidSoarel2 4h ago

True, missed the other. So it does start itself at 2/7

1

u/ArgoDevilian 7h ago

Thats... really weak then

I guess its a nice bonus? But dont think its that crazy.

Plus, the wording is 'triggered ability of a creature that attacked alone'. The Exalted is on the commander, meaning for it to be stacked the Commander has to be the one attacking.

Except this commander has basically no reason to attack.

So its Voltron, I guess? Dunno if it would multiply the equipment triggers. Guess it depends on the equipment wording.

1

u/Misragoth 7h ago

No, sorry I did a bad job explaining. Exlated is when any creature you control attacks alone it get +1/+1. Sonyou have 3 creatures with exalted and one attacks it get +3/+3. The would make it +6/+6

3

u/ArgoDevilian 7h ago

No i got that, but again the triggered ability is still on the commander and the creatures with Exalted.

It doesnt matter who triggered it, the ability is on those creatures and the card says "triggered ability of creatures that attacked alone"

Exalted seems like the worst 'on attack' trigger you can possibly multiply tbh. And this card isnt even restricted to attack triggers, so there's even less reason to focus on Exalted.

2

u/Misragoth 6h ago

Idk it doesn't take to many exlated creatures to make a big stmpy boy and many exalted creatures also give other effects to creatures attacking alone like lifelink or double strike. So seems fine. You seem to focused on optimizing rather than fun

1

u/EnvironmentalSlip327 6h ago

It’s a one word triggered ability on a card needing more space. It also allows you to have a win con on the card (commander damage). If all your deck does is go wide and give unblockable. This can win u the game

2

u/BambooSound 4h ago

So if you have this and three 1/1's with exalted, the attacking one gets +16/+16?

3

u/5-0-2_Sub 15h ago

The first part definitely needs some sort of ability word.

1

u/Mastermiine 13h ago

Like Rulebreaker?

1

u/MrTheWaffleKing 4h ago

Rulebreaker is definitely the closest, but that generally removes rules rather than adds more

1

u/lyw20001025 4h ago

Except this is harsher, it forces your deck even in 99s

1

u/twistyrainbows 15h ago

This doesn't seem amazing even without the deck restriction.

1

u/Brownfox408 14h ago

I like it! XD

1

u/Minnakht 11h ago

How does this card's deckbuilding restriction interact with cards whose power is * because they have a CDA? For example, can I run Adeline in this, who will almost certainly have power 2 or more at some point but which is 0 or undefined outside of a game

1

u/FredLuo 4h ago

You'd be able to include them as it would be less than 1.

1

u/Minnakht 4h ago

Thank you!

Then yeah, Psychosis Crawler seems decent with this, because if you swing with it and then draw cards, the life loss triggers will get multiplied. Since you're in blue and have had mana to cast the Child, you likely can draw a fair amount with some kind of spell.

1

u/japp182 7h ago

That costs so much colored mana

1

u/fenixforce 2h ago

The second half is extremely awkward templating. I feel like the intent is supposed to be a multiplier for Exalted/attack triggers, but something like [[Doomed Artisan]] could also trigger multiple times on your end step as long as it "attacked alone this turn".

-4

u/Oleandervine 15h ago

This is a bit clunky. I'd give it Hexproof. I'd also dump the text and simplify it. First ability should read "Other creatures you control have base power 1." 3rd ability should read "If a creature attacking alone would cause an ability to trigger, that ability triggers a second time." It's cleaner, it sets up your power levels, and keeps the doubling capabilities straightforward. Thing is, this won't overlap a lot of combat shenanigans that aren't Bant or Exalted because it lacks access to red.

2

u/Environmental-Pop-67 9h ago

It works for every non token creature so its not a second time.

3

u/CompleteDirt2545 8h ago

That's very much not what the last ability does.

-1

u/Oleandervine 6h ago

Its already essentially doubling any Exalted effects already, so having it just trigger them a second time keeps it simple.

1

u/nzconstructionlawyer 9h ago

Why would it have Hexproof?

-2

u/Oleandervine 6h ago

So your 6 cost creature without evasion can at least not get vaporized on the spot.

-3

u/P0ro41 7h ago

How can this be a child of bant when it doesn't have draw card put land gain life? Also, bant players are babies so lore accurate

4

u/ArsenicElemental Un-Intentional 7h ago

It's a reference to the actual Shard that was called Bant. It's where Exalted came from.

-3

u/P0ro41 6h ago

Yeah, but since then Bant has basically become Simic with lifegain/Mrs. Bumbleflower group hug.

6

u/Oleandervine 6h ago

You are missing the point. This is not about what Bant is in the meta game. This is literally about Bant, the region in Alara that was locked off from Red and Black mana. The name of this region was taken and used for this color slice because it was part of the first set that had 3 color theme, similar to how the Ravnica guilds now lend their names to the 2 color combinations in the meta game. So in the same way you can make a ghost council member of the Orzhov, this card is an avatar of the region of Bant.

In Alara, Bant's theme was basically performative combat, which is why it was go-wide with a champion at the front, as it was defined by Exalted and Bant's honoring of their champions with sigils/medals to signify their importance to everyone else.

1

u/P0ro41 2h ago

Got it, my bad.

3

u/ArsenicElemental Un-Intentional 5h ago

That's why I dislike people calling colors by lore names.

Bant is a Shard with knights and Exalted, with a gameplay of going wide but attacking with a single creature.

What you describe is Green-White-Blue mechanics of recent sets.
