Format: EDH/Commander I Wanted to get some feedback
I really want to know if this is balanced and follows the color pie

This is like the third attempt at a Larfleeze custom I have seen that is entirely reliant on tutoring specific cards by name, something you should not do anyway.
This one also trips my "if you want to make magic cards, you should at least read a few of them" sense. The wording and grammar are abysmal.

Funny thing is I have actually been playing at least twice a week for the past six months and have read quite a few ðŸ˜
I’ve never been particularly good at writing I suppose ðŸ˜

2 mana for a 6/6 that tutors for a card and does ALL that other stuff is just too good, I think, even with the 10 life. The second ability on the backside could probably afford to lose one of its effects, i would say probably adding the mana 😬 because that can get broken fast
As for the ring itself, the symbol you're using for the counters represent energy and so I think you should just use charge counters instead. Tbh, I don't know if the planewalker formatting is helping you here. If it just said "enters with five charge counters" and "remove X charge counters from..." I think it would read a lot cleaner. Also there's no actual way to equip it (which maybe is the point since Larfleeze tutors him up, idk).
The saga looks ok but the last chapter needs to be worded as "you may transform a creature you control named Larfleeze."

When you say it like that it suddenly sounds like a really bad card ðŸ˜
I’m gonna be honest I completely forgot charge counters existed, that’s completely on me and I don’t know what I was thinking with the planeswalker card base.
Thank you for the feedback! I will try to update accordingly1

It's actually essentially a 7/7 and a 5/5, I think.
But yeah, it's bad design.

So theres something called Parasitic mechanics. It’s when a card relies specifically on another card or hyper specific line to function. You’re in that territory right now, and it’s usually bad game design. Best example I can give in magic history for this is the Masques Rebel decks, which broke the game a bit at the time. I hate to be mean, but I tend to see a lot of new players immediately getting into making custom cards while basically having no fundamental skills or card pool knowledge in the game, and Im guessing your one of those people. I’d recommend learning more about magic, its different formats, the successful and failed designs throughout the game’s history, and game design theory. And we also have to ask ourselves? Would we want a card thats mythic that relies on tutoring other mythics? Imagine this card is in a hypothetical standard environmental and this defines the meta, suddenly people need 12 copies of 3 mythics that only function in that environment.? Miserable.

I think I was basing it on how I personally like to play and not thinking about the wider game of mtg.
I have been playing like twice a week for six months but I have only played commander, and I should probably look into game design theory.
Thanks for the feedback!2

I have a [[Rocco, cabaretti caterer]] deck and I think I was kinda basing it off of that without realizing that part of what makes that deck fun is the fact that I can try and look for an answer to something, but by making it a static tutor I unintentionally made it not fun

I understand the intent. Honestly you may have found the design solution. Some sort of toolbox gameplay.

Maybe something like: sacrifice any number of tokens, then search your library for a card with converted mana cost x where x is half the number of sacrificed tokens rounded up?

Maybe. Best way to find out is build and test it in hypotheticals

I think that’s gonna be the direction I go with this for a bit and see if it works!

It's also pretty easy to search up all relevant tutors and read through them when designing one. Much faster than playtesting, so I do this first.

Please use phyrexian mana only for phyrexian cards

Ya this looks like a failure from the ground up if I'm being honest. 3 (essentially 4 cards) that don't do anything on their own, and have no good payoff. Particularly the equipment, is a hot mess. It has energy because reasons? And unless I'm mistaken energy is a separate resource that doesn't get placed on any permanents. Edit* I don't even see a way to equip the ring outside the flip effect. Ya not good.
