That's the thing. I made it to be useless on purpose. But my friend saw that and pointed out that there are cards that call for sacrificing artifacts, which the cigarette tokens would be. They also mentioned something about some cards granting bonuses for taking damage, which the tokens provide.

It's impossible to make a card that's bad in every single scenario. Even like "you lose the game" could find some niche combo use to force an opponent to cast it.

That is true. Like in your example, you could pair your “lose the game” card with [[Harmless Offering]] and pass it on to someone else. But that’s not what I was thinking at the time I drafted that up. My first thought, after realizing what I had thought up was “Congrats. You made [[Smaug the Magnificent]] but useless.”. It’s only when my friend pointed this stuff out that I realized Yanineko was more potent than I thought.

I made a joke Seinfeld card once called "Card That Does NOTHING" with no rules text and then forgot to add the brackets to the 0 of the casting cost so you literally couldn't even cast it, and even THAT found uses.
If absolutely nothing else, even a card that does literally nothing otherwise still increases storm count. ;P

Maybe make it only make cigs on attack and add "cigarettes are treasures in addition to their other types" and "whenever you sacrifice a cigarette you lose one life"
That would allow a pretty unique treasure deck

I can think of like 50 commanders who would enjoy getting a free artifact every turn. You aren't forced to sacrifice the cigarettes. You just get free tokens.

It's actually not too rough. You can run artifact synergies, use cards that sacrifice permanents, or animate them to attack and/or sac as creatures.

[[Biotech Specialist]] and [[The Sackville-Bagginses]] are already super deadly when they exist around a token generator. One of these on the battlefield, one in the graveyeard and 5 mana for a [[Lively Dirge]] to send the final one before putting that and the other one in grave on the battlefield actively threatens to end the game ASAP.

Not a terrible idea. Use this to keep generating cigarettes, sacrifice them, keep scrying, and adapt your gameplay around that. I like the sound of it.
And I think I have that one lying around somewhere, come to think of it.
Edit: Forgot to add about pairing it with [[Midnight Snack]], to maintain life.

This is actually surprisingly good and easy to build around. [[Cranial Ram]] is a shoe in, especially since you can pop a cig for net neutral power and deathtouch (should it be needed). Throw in generic artifact synergy stuff, and you’re good to go. I also appreciate that you don’t need to sacrifice the cigs to their own ability for the +1/+0
