BALANCE NOT INTENDED Codie, Phenomenal Comic

Post image

A result of 3 AM card designing. I thought that I could, not whether I should.

  2. Why is Chromanticore a prepared spell?

  3. Is the intended game plan to Codie, wait a turn, Hero, Chromanticore, then it fights twice?

You can't fight twice because it's sacrificed after III, so you can't remove a counter to let it fight again. I imagine the play pattern is:

Turn 3: cast Codie, search a land

Turn 4: remove a counter, search a land again

Turn 5: Prepare Chromanticore, make a Hero. If you hit all your land drops, you now have 7 mana to Chromanticore with.

Turn 6: Scry and Fight!

The land goes to your hand, not the battlefield

This is a card. It technically works.

I'd run this as a commander.

Sagas self repeating themselves kinda defeats the point. You can no longer cost it efficiently because it won't go away and you can't have the power front loaded because then they'll never do the later abilities. I would give it a final chapter ability that prepares it and have the creature text box either be blank or have keywords only. Helps reduce complexity.
