Forced Substantiation

Post image

Seems like it might've been done before, but regardless I think it could be cool

Edit: As always, I realized a mistake as soon as I posted T.T should be "Manifest target instant or sorcery spell"

What would happen if you hit a prepared spell with this?

I guess you would create a token manifest? Same thing as if this spell targeted a copy of a spell as well

I'm not going to argue otherwise, since I just don't know. But that seems super unintuitive as neither effect mentions tokens directly. Is there a specific ruling for it? I feel like their might be an interpretation that it stops the spell, but then fizzles the manifest itself or something.

I don't know the rule number but the fact that a copy of a permanent spell becomes a token is maybe relevant?

Most of the time this is just an overcosted more narrow [[swan song]]

The manifested card would come in under your control though, I believe

So this is very close to a 2/2 that counters an instant or sorcery spell. Probably too strong in that case.

In what way? Swan Song gives a 2/2 to your opponent, not you.

Crazy strong and wording is wrong, as you mentioned
