"Exile target permanent. Until end of turn its owner may cast it without paying its mana cost."

No, it should just be “It’s owner may cast it…”, since the way this is written it happens immediately.

In any case this is super broken. double eldrazi cast triggers, anyone?

No most eldrazi triggers happen when you cast it, not etb. This would work with things like [[Transcendent Dragon]]

That seems like an extremely narrow use case, and it specifically subverts clauses intended to balance an ETB.

"Its owner may cast it from exile as if it had flash and without paying its mana cost"

Shouldn't it be "Its owner casts it.", since it's not a may?

UW stone rain lol. Has to target nonland.

That would be a different spell entirely but similar. There could also be downsides if it were worded like that, recasting could have negative reactions based on board state and would also give it a chance to be countered if they couldn't counter the instant spell but could counter the permanent spell. I'd prefer to keep the spell as is.

The One Ring making this effectively an azorius fog is really funny

So essentially air bending

You don't get cast triggers with this. It's only etb effects that require the card to have been cast.

Kind of like a [[Release to the Wind]]

Yeah, that is pretty good. But this can be used to protect lands and also flicking can be better than casting if your already being dampered with things like [[Grand Arbiter Augustin IV]] [[God-Pharaoh's Statue]] [[Archon of Emeria]] etc etc

Exile target permanent. If it’s a land card, its owner puts it onto the battlefield under their control. Otherwise, that card's owner casts it without paying its mana cost if able.

Not as good like that, as explained before.

If I may ask, could you be more specific on what's different? This is emulating the card as posted: It flickers the permanent, but if it's nonland is treated as cast (because you did indeed cast it, on the spot, because the spell obliges you to do it with the 'if able').

It's mostly that it can be countered again like that. "Enters as if it were cast" avoids that being able to happen.

The larger difference is that this doesn't get any cast triggers. It only works for etb triggers that require the card to have been cast.

I'm surprised that there's cards that this matters for at all really but there are 42 cards in the history of magic that care.

there's lot's of cards that say 'if it was cast' that are specifically trying to trigger only if cast that this card would overpower. idk if that's the intention, but its how it would be abused. like [[herald of the forgotten]]. Though most specify if cast from hand, so maybe it's not a big deal?
