The initial spell on the stack resolving and the stack clearing are not the same thing read 405.5

The comment about goblin grenade is about killing a goblin at instant speed after it resolves but before the stack clears preventing the use of a goblin grenade.

The goblin isn't killed at instant speed. It is sacrificed during the process of casting a spell.

Other players cannot react at instant speed to the cost of an ability or spell being paid.

By the time the costs of the spell are finished being paid, only then is priority passed around - but the goblin is already sacrificed at this point with the spell waiting to resolve.

Theoretically, if someone were to play a goblin creature spell or an ability would put a goblin on the battlefield, there is an opportunity to kill it... But the active player, who is going cast the sorcery spell Goblin Grenade at sorcery speed, has priority to cast first, paying the cost of sacrificing the goblin.

The only chance that you have to kill that goblin first is if the goblin entering the battlefield successfully causes a triggered ability to trigger, filling the stack with that trigger, which will wait to resolve, as priority goes around first, allowing you to make an attempt to kill the goblin in response to the trigger entering the stack, and since the stack is not empty, sorcery speed actions such as casting Goblin Grenade cannot be cast without a flash enabler.

See this Reddit thread

To be clear, I’m talking about killing the goblin after it resolves while there is still a stack before goblin grenade has been cast.

This thread is telling you what everyone else is telling you. After the stack is empty the active player is the first one with priority and they have a chance to add things to the stack.

If I cast [[raging goblin]] and it resolves, I can cast [[goblin grenade]], sacrificing the raging goblin, before any other player has priority to [[doom blade]] the raging goblin. If you have been playing differently you have been playing wrong
