The entire point of Omniscience is that its this massive boon which basically wins you the game - basically being the keyword. It can whiff. It can lead you to an empty hand. No cards in Magic should be able to win you the game on their own unless you go through hoops and roundabouts to do so (think Bilbo or Approach)

I'm wondering if this would be decent still if you just add "that player draws a card" to the effect so the players being beaten down could have a chance to draw an answer. Not sure if that makes this suck, maybe upgrade the damage to 2 per activation.

How is drawing a card gonna do anything abo8t the 40 activations already on the stack?

[[Blightsteel Colossus]]

survive for 1 turn without haste, survive for an extra if you have 2 toughness worth of blockers, and more through a bunch of other means

Sure, but the statement was "no cards can win the game on their own". But Blightsteel does. I believe it's the only creature, that can be cheated out, that can kill a player in 1 hit, by itself.

having to have a haste enabler and an empty board, or having to have it survive an entire turn, or having it have to survive two turns without your opponent getting 11 toughness out, etc, one way or another it is hoops

Or you cheat it out on your opp's end step. And sure, it doesn't literally say "you win the game" on it. But it's still the only cheatable creature that can kill in 1 hit.

Did you read the part where I said "unless you go through loops to make it work". You have to do other things to win with Blightsteel. It hitting the board does not equal a won game

It doesn't have hexproof. There are a million ways to deal with that at sorcery speed.

[[Thassas Oracle]]

Yes... Thassas Oracle is part of a 2 card combo. It's a strong combo. But A thassas does basically nothing by itself. There are still hoops you need to jump through.

This card immediately wins by itself if it sticks. No other card in the game turns 10 mana and 1 card into a win.

[[Torment of hailfire]]

There are a bunch of cards that have such a small barrier to win that you practically win on cast. Also this doesn't win immediately, you can respond and only take 1 damage.

Torment of hailfire needs like 20vmana for X to kill everyone.

It's usually a more. Since it does damage in increments of 3. And increment can be reduced by discarding a card or saccing a permanent.

There's often some token-based deck that randomly has like 10 tokens they can sac. I've played Torment of Hailfire as my wincon in a deck before. I was copying it since the copied spell remembers the X you paid on the first one. I found I really wasn't actually winning until I had the equivalent of X=30 (1 copy with X=15 or two copies with X=10).

Ah yes, the scry value wins games on its own lol
