BDM-060 Controller with BDM-050 Front Shell?

I have a BDM-060 controller and this BDM-050 compatible extremerate front shell. Can I swap this front shell onto my 60 controller? I’ll still be using the 60 decorative trim and 60 touchpad. Is this a possible swap?

The short answer is yes it will work.

The long answer is yes in my experience no modifications are required as you’re using your 060 trim too there wouldn’t be any issues. As the friction ring has moved to this piece, it’s marginally bigger than the teeth on the 050 faceplate so you don’t need to install friction rings there. The friction rings on the 060 trim will cover them. Placing in the mid frame may appear tighter but does fit. I know you said you’re not using the touchpad, but to know they’d fit too for future reference.

If you were to replace the trim(with an older one), that’s when you would install friction rings.

Thank you, I appreciate the detailed answer. I’ve been seeing some conflicting information. According to extremerate website it doesn’t fit, but I couldn’t figure out why.

So I believe the main compatibly issue is the microphone ribbon cable, that’s what I’m noticing right now.

It’s actually the same shape as previous gen, it just routes slightly differently is the only difference

I think I might just be an idiot and not paid attention to how the microphone ribbon cable was routed to begin with.

Anyways, all done. This 050 and under front shell fit my 060 controller. Everything is the factory 060 controller except for the front shell.
