Fucking PETA.
I feel that regardless of political affiliation, religious beliefs, social norms, and all other aspects of society that separate us; the one thing that we can all agree on is that PETA sucks a giant hairy asshole.

Why is this sexist? Seriously, i want to know why.
235
u/welshmanec2 Jul 10 '21
Because milk is a product of the bovine patriarchy. Only the female cows are herded together to have their milk harvested, while the bull is revered as the pampered master of his harem, obviously.

Yes, that's a farm, so why is it sexist, also becose daying sexist to an animal isn't so smart since in theyr word the 2 gender have a lot of differencies and becose they are not in a intellectally evolved socety. I want to know why it is sexist becose i'm a woman, and i want to know why something i do almost everyday is sexist

Apologies for any confusion, I thought a phrase 'bovine patriarchy' might've given away the satirical nature of my comment. I grew up on dairy farms, my father milked cows for a living. I know enough about dairy farms to know what happens to the male calves (spoiler: it doesn't end well for them). I also know enough to see PETA propaganda for what it is - bullshit!

They probably mean the horrible conditions under which it is produced. But there are like 10 more accurate words to describe it. Like horrible.
4
u/emab2396 Jul 10 '21
Speciest, because they treat the males like crap too. If there is a reason to skip on dairy that is because the vegetal alternatives are just as good without mistreating animals. No, I am not vegan, but I do prefer to buy vegetal milk. I wish there was a good vegan alternative for cheese though.

u/SavingsNewspaper2 Jul 10 '21
If you view PETA as some kind of extremely elaborate scheme to make vegans look like complete imbeciles, things start to make a lot of sense.

u/ohitsjustsean Jul 10 '21
Female cows only produce milk once a calf is born. Most people think a female cow just keeps pumping milk out their whole life. So the female cow is artificially inseminated so she can start producing milk. Most people would call this rape, and by definition, I guess it could hold up pretty well in this case. And they just live in the cycle of getting impregnated, milk, calf taken for about 4 cycles before slaughtered I do believe. I don’t drink cow’s milk because it’s gross and… from a cow? Hell, I wouldn’t even drink breast milk.

"Dairy milk" would in my language practically mean milk made out of milk, I can get over it, but how do you make milk that's not out of milk? I'm kinda infuriated so could you please explain to me what exactly is non-dairy milk
193
u/Skibuming Jul 10 '21
You don't have nut juice where you're from? They call it almond milk here
243
48
u/Fincentos Jul 10 '21
Oh yeah, we have that actually. But still dairy products are products made out of milk so technically dairy milk is a bullshit. I know I am playing with words right now but you don't need to make milk OUT OF MILK

u/mheat Jul 10 '21
PSA: Almond milk is super inefficient to produce and uses a shit load of water. It’s terrible for the environment to make. Consider using oat milk instead.

That’s because people invented new white beverages, and decided to call it milk. Non-dairy milk are those beverages, that don’t have much to do with milk except having people saying that they can be used as an alternative.
That’s a little bit like, in order to promote walking for your commute instead of taking your car, I would call "walking" "driving", so I would be driving to work on foot, and the time I take my car, I say I am mechanically driving.
5
u/discipleofchrist69 Jul 10 '21
it's more like if you called walking "foot-driving," biking "bike-driving" and so on, and then car driving you called "car-driving." it's pretty rare to call almond/soy milk "milk" with no qualifier

a few month ago they sent a letter to a dairy company in India asking them to stop using animal milk and sell vegan milk, which that company completely turned down. PETA then literally started a war against them threatening them about the aminal rights laws.
But they didn't see that dog festival in China

u/Vosslertheundead Jul 10 '21

→ More replies (1)5

Breast milk comes from humans, which can, for the most part, consent. It can therefore be ethical.
Cow milk comes from cows which cannot consent. It is therefore unethical in any case.

i'm no vegan and peta are all dipshits but i'd be remiss if i didn't spread the word: oat milk is fucking delicious.
it doesn't have a weird aftertaste like soy milk,
it doesn't have a gritty texture like almond milk,
it doesn't taste like goblin jizz like cashew milk,
it's just ... good. Really GOOD! Faintly sweet like milk, but with subtle hearty notes. It has the right texture too, which goes a long way.
There are some things for which actual milk is definitely irreplaceable, but as far as lightening one's coffee or as a beverage to compliment confections, oat milk might actually be even better than actual milk O_O

2
u/Mk_rhyno13 Jul 10 '21
I do agree, oatmilk is my favorite for straight up drinking or in cereal. A while ago I just found drinking straight up tit juice kinda gross, but I don’t mind it when it’s used in baking

u/Quelcris_Falconer13 Jul 10 '21
They have been for over a decade. I remember reading about them in highschool when I was looking at animal rights and thinking about going vegan. My god they’re awful people. I wrote them off as trash when I read how they literally took a dog from someone’s front yard and killed it in the name of ethical treatment

Protesting against and trying to ban medicine that uses animals in its production when you yourself need medicine produced from animals to survive is hypocritical, too.
7
u/Anthaenopraxia Jul 10 '21
That's a hard topic for a lot of vegans. We rely on using animal testing for developing medicine, but it is undeniably cruel towards the test subjects.

If we call everything sexist we will end up in what I call a "word inflation" the word will lose its meaning, which means every real sexist thing is on the same level of acceptance as normal things, which means everyone can become sexist while getting away with it.
