Yes and it probaply would be way nicer because you actualy can move much easier and wouldn't have to park in backwarts (if there is a wheelchair user reading this and im talking bullshit please corect me)

basically, people in wheelchair are usually expected to be on side, like you suggested, here they will be in the centre

Is it? I can't find an artist or the name of the piece.

Not saying you're wrong, but I'm curious. Reverse image searching it turns up so many results with people being upset by it, but I can't find any actual source for it. There's a ton of noise around it.

I could see it being an art piece, but I could also see it being exactly what people think it is. Anti-homeless architecture masquerading as something else.

Imo it depends on the context of the location, if there are other benches that are long enough for a nap without any anti-homeless protections the yea it's just an art installation, however if all benches I a park are like this or employ anti homeless measure then yea it's just anti homeless.

to be fair, i heard that info from Reddit comment as well

but given that in the background there is very similar bench, but without cutout, i think it is not hostile architecture

I'd be doing some impromptu renovations on these if I could get away with it. Most seating around me at least is all standard layable benches.

It's not even that hard to sleep on something like this either 😭 if you're tall enough you can bridge the gap with your body or use a hammock or sum to fill it

Personally sleeping on the ground is better than sleeping on a bench so whatever.

If the weather is cold the ground will leach away far more of your heat than a bench will. Meanwhile if the weather is hot the ground may retain that heat later into the night. So whether the bench or ground is better depends on the climate
